Living History Awards Program
The Living History Awards Program connects Phoenix-area youth with African American leaders, trailblazers, and inspiring stories of excellence. Through research, educational enrichment, and youth-led presentations, participants explore the achievements and contributions of individuals whose leadership and service have made a meaningful impact on our community and beyond.

A Powerful Partnership
Presented by the Phoenix Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, in collaboration with the Phoenix Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity’s Gamma Mu Boulé of Phoenix, this longstanding program brings generations together to celebrate African American achievement and inspire the next generation.
An Annual Theme with Purpose
Each year, a meaningful theme guides the Living History experience, connecting the achievements of our honorees with lessons in leadership, service, civic engagement, cultural heritage, and social responsibility.
Bringing History
to Life
Through research, interviews, and meaningful engagement with honorees, participants explore the stories and achievements of African American leaders and trailblazers while strengthening their leadership and cultural awareness skills.
Youth Voices
In Action
Youth bring their research to life through presentations at the Living History Awards Program, sharing the stories, accomplishments, and impact of the leaders they have had the opportunity to learn about.
Honoring Legacy. Inspiring the Future.
For more than 20 years, Living History has recognized African American trailblazers and community leaders whose accomplishments provide powerful examples for the next generation.
Through the continued partnership of our three organizations, Living History creates an intergenerational experience that honors legacy, celebrates excellence, and inspires the young people who will lead next.
